Pawz dog boots are not intended for long term usage. They are very safe for short term use (up to an hour at a time) but because they are made from rubber your dogs feet won’t able to breathe as normal, and over time they will affect circulation. This is particularly important for dogs with neurological damage as they may not feel that it’s uncomfortable.
We generally recommend only to use them when required – usually when they’re active. When they’re resting or sleeping take them off. If you’re after a solution that can be left on for longer periods of time then consider Ruffwear’s Grip Trex.
Step 4: Repeat for all 4 nails on one front paw and one hind paw (not the dewclaw).
Step 5: Based on the measurements obtained (not the average), use the chart below
to find your dog’s size. Sometimes a dog will require a combination of two sizes.
Nail Circumference | Size | Color |
9-12mm | XS | Yellow |
13-15mm | S | Red |
16-19mm | M | Blue |
20-23mm | L | Green |
24-27mm | XL | Purple |
28-30mm | XXL | Orange |
31-36mm | XXXL | Navy |
Toe grips do need to be regularly monitored every 1-2 days to make sure they’re not riding up in to the nail bed as that can be painful and potentially cause your dog to lose their nail. It’s not difficult to do, you just need to remember to do it. If ever you notice your dog starting to limp while they’re using toegrips, check where the toegrip is sitting on that paw.
