About the christmas cards & Gift Tag Stickers
The story of these charity cards & stickers go back to 2020 when we volunteered with some vet friends to help our injured wildlife following the devastating bushfires. We didn’t know it at the time, but this began a long term relationship with these vets, vet nurses and Possumwood wildlife sanctuary.
We wanted to find a way to help Possumwood raise money, so together with our the receptionist Lauren Crofts, who doubles as an artist, we came up with the idea of creating a series of wildlife themed Christmas cards. Our first year of trying this was a huge success, raising just over $1500.
In 2023 we’ve added to the collection with 5 more creative designs, and a set of 12 gift tag stickers.
You can purchase the set of 5 cards for $25, the set of 10 gift tag stickers for $12, or a bundle for both for $32 (save $5).
Our shared passion for helping animals led to this initiative, where all profits will be donated to Possumwood to help sick & injured Australian wildlife.
The Designs
The cards come in a set of 5, with some punny Christmas quotes.
Koala – Surround Yourself With Lots of Koala-ty Friends This Year
Possum – You Left This On The Floor…Merry Christmas ‘ya Filthy Animal.
Wombat – It’s The Most Wombat-ful Time Of The Year
Wallaroo – All I Want For Christmas Is Roo
Kangaroo – Have a Hoppy Christmas
The gift tag stickers feature all 10 designs.
About the artist
Lauren Crofts was our first employee and took on the role of reception/admin, where she worked from 2019 – 2023. We didn’t realise for some time that Lauren was keeping a little secret from us – that she’s an incredible artist!
Lauren works mostly with watercolours and has a focus on wildlife and pets. She’s been commissioned for a number of works for our patient’s pets, especially those who have crossed the rainbow bridge as a memorial piece.
If you’d like to see more of Lauren’s art, or to commission her for a piece, then check out her Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/lau.rofts/
Lauren also has a number of pieces for sale here: https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/Laurofts
About the charitY
Our journey with Possumwood began back in the 2020 bushfires when we were invited to help out some of our vet friends in some of the hardest-hit regions of NSW. One of the places we got stationed at was Possumwood Wildlife Sanctuary. We didn’t realise at the time, but this would go on to be a long-standing relationship with all of us, which we’ve continued to volunteer at since.
Thanks to the help of Dr Audrey Shen, Possumwood has transformed from a sanctuary for Kangaroos, to a wildlife hospital where they help all sorts of injured wildlife in the local area.
2024 is bringing on some exciting additions where they are adding an education element, to teach locals about caring for wildlife.
HOW FUNDS ARE DISTRIBUTED
All profits will go to Possumwood. Essentially, that means whatever is left after paying expenses is what will be donated. Lauren’s time in creating these festive artworks has been donated, and the rest of our teams time in creating the card design & everything else has been donated.
WACS are doing their own fundraising to their members, and the remainder that we sell will be going to possumwood.
Our anticipated expenses are (in order of most expensive to least expensive)
Printing – Includes the cards/stickers, envelopes etc.
Postage – It’s included in the price for anyone who buys online.
Art supplies – Lauren painted for free, the least we can do is reimburse her for supplies.
Packaging – It’s only a small amount, but it still costs something.
